Commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture can be an exciting and rewarding process. You can choose to be involved at every stage, from design and materials to delivery and installation.
1. Ideas
The process usually begins with a meeting or phone call where the important details are discussed such as the purpose of the piece, the style and the surroundings, the materials, the budget and deadline. A brief will then be drawn up and agreed.
2. Designs
We will show you two or three designs in the form of hand sketches, images or three dimensional computer models. This is just the start of the conversation. We then fine-tune these to get the design exactly right.
3. Pricing
Commissioning furniture is not as expensive as you might think. The costs can vary considerably depending on the type of wood used to make the piece and the detail in the design. Remember, this is real, hand made furniture!
4. Ordering
Once the design and materials are agreed on a deposit of 50% is payable. Once this has been received work can begin. You are welcome to visit the workshop and see the piece as it is being built. When it’s finished arrangements are made for delivery at which stage the balance of payment is due.
5. The Future
This furniture will last many lifetimes when properly cared for. We will advise you how to look after it so you can pass it on to future generations.
